Day 2 at The Grand Tetons

Second night at The Grand Tetons
                                                          Post by Jim Kent

Lights out last night was much easier then our evening arrival on Monday. Our first "lights out" capped a day of new experiences and overwhelming stimulation. Packing and getting to school, bus rides to the airport, check in, security, waiting at the gates, seat assignments, changing planes, buying food in the Denver airport and finally touch down in Wyoming, (both touch downs receiving wild shouts and spontaneous applauds. So it was no wonder that when bedtime finally arrived the room took turns erupting with gleeful laughter or spontaneous singing. However this resistance to sleep was nearly non-existent last night. After a long day of hiking and exploring lights out was welcomed "activity."

                                                        Morning at The Grand Tetons

Breakfast is at 7:30 each day at the Nelson Dining Lodge.

Upon entering the day's forecast is clearly posted.

Our food is lovingly prepared by Cat (L) and Caroline (R).

Each morning before eating the students watch a presentation on conservation and respect......

Then they participate in a quiz to select the order that the tables go up for food.

Each morning every student packs their own lunch in red topped travel containers called hoorahs.
In addition to the food each student carries two full water bottles to keep them hydrated.

Meanwhile the Faculty and staff fuel up and receive their marching orders.

After breakfast there's some time to relax, pack your bag or a quick game of cards.

                                                 Gift shopping.

While relaxing you might spy some Rangers preparing for a lesson.

or relax with friends or compare shoes.

Yesterday the students were organized into groups that will last until Friday.

 They are:

Foxes

Pronghorn

Coyotes

Owls

Hawks

Mule Deer

Today they were preparing for a challenge Hike.
We will let you know how their day went.
